Discover Ketchikan's scenic beauty, historic sights and Indian culture during this memorable 25-mile orientation drive through the city, and a visit to the enchanting Totem Bight State Park.
Depart the pier for the drive through Ketchikan. Alaska's busiest waterfront, Ketchikan bustles with floatplanes and boats. You will tour the Old City and drive by the infamous Creek Street, Ketchikan's former red-light district. As you travel along the scenic North Tongass Highway, you will pass salmon canneries and a pulp mill that was once the largest of its kind in the world.
Next, you will proceed for a visit to Totem Bight State Park. Upon arrival, you will take a walking tour along a winding trail and through a forest of mighty hemlock before arriving at an old Indian campsite. Here you will discover an abundance of colorful totem poles, each representing a fascinating tale. You will then learn about primitive Alaskan Indian culture during a stop at the mysterious Ceremonial House located on the park's premises.
Following your visit, you will reboard your coach for the leisurely drive back to downtown Ketchikan's bustling waterfront before returning to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves a leisurely half-mile walk over uneven terrain from the Totem Bight parking lot to the Tribal House.
