Watch Ketchikan's rich heritage and natural beauty come alive during an exclusive tour of this waterfront city's most memorable attractions.
Depart the pier via a deluxe mini-bus for a scenic orientation tour of Alaska's First City, so named as the first major community travelers visit on their journey north. During your drive, you will become acquainted with Alaska's busiest waterfront, bustling with floatplanes and fishing boats. Your first stop will be at Potlatch Park, home of a replicate Native Village exhibiting how the Tlingit tribes lived in the past. Walk through these crafted buildings and hear stories of how each building was used. A highlight of your visit will be a private, up-close totem carving demonstration. Enjoy coffee and a fresh cookie in the Totem Trading Center.
Next, you will take a stroll through picturesque City Park, then on to the Totem Heritage Center, home to the world's finest collection of 19th-century totem poles. From here, you will proceed to the Saxman Native Village for a guided visit to one of the world's largest collections of totem poles.
Your tour will conclude with a visit to the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center. Upon arrival, US Forest Service staff will lead you on a fully-guided tour of this world-class facility. You will see exhibits and interactive displays that bring the natural and cultural history of Southeast Alaska to life, and view the award-winning film, Mystical Southeast Alaska.
Following your visit, you will reboard your coach for the return drive to the pier. En route, your driver-guide will provide lively narrative and point out historic Creek Street, where homes and shops on wooden pilings are perched over the water.
