Explore the historic sites and traditions of Dalian during a memorable walking tour of this picturesque city, and kite flying at Labor Park.
Depart Dalian Port for the drive to Zhongshan Square. Constructed by the Russians in 1899, Zhongshan Square is the oldest square in Dalian. From here, you will begin walking toward People Square.
Dalian is well-known for the numerous squares that dot the city. During your walking tour, you will pass Friendship Square, Victory Square, the Qingniwaqiao Shopping area and Zhongshan Road before arriving at People Square. Formerly known as Stalin Square, it was built to commemorate the liberation of Northeast China in 1945 by the Soviet Union's Red Army. Transformed by lush meadows and gentle doves, People Square has evolved into a popular leisure destination for locals and visitors alike. Some time will be made available to stroll through People Square before proceeding to a nearby bar for refreshments. Tea and soft drinks will also be available.
Following this stop, your drive will continue on to Labor Park for kite flying (weather permitting). The tradition of kite flying dates back more than 2,000 years in China. Upon arrival, you will receive your kite and instructions on how to fly it, then have an opportunity to try this ancient, fun-filled diversion before rejoining your coach for the return drive to the pier and ship.
