Depart the pier for the drive though Shanghai's Bund and former French Concession areas for a glimpse at wonderful European-style mansions built early in the 20th century.
Your tour will continue with a drive through the tunnel under the Huangpu River, then on to the Pudong Economic Zone. Here, you will see the skyscrapers, most of which were built within the last decade, that abound in this modern area of Shanghai. After a photo stop at the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center, you will travel by express elevator to the very top of the Jinmao Building that houses the Grand Hyatt Hotel; currently the 2nd tallest building in China and among the top 10 in the world. From the 88th floor, you will take in wonderful panoramic views and photo opportunities of the city.
Next, you will drive to the heart of downtown Shanghai to the sizable People's Square. A popular racecourse before the revolution, People's Square is now a flourishing urban park, flanked by the Shanghai Museum, City Hall and other government buildings. You will have some time to stroll through the park, before re-boarding your coach for a drive through the former French Concession area, where tree lined boulevards and quaint European-style houses abound. Afterwards, you will transfer directly back to the pier.
