Along with our Bon Appétit Culinary Center Chef, enjoy a day spent discovering the interesting culinary scene in New Zealand's capital city. Renowned for its great food, you will visit Wellington's most iconic coffee roaster, a fresh grocery store and spend time with one of Wellington's best chefs during a cooking demonstration, wine tasting and a kitchen tour of his award winning restaurant.
Depart from the pier with our Bon Appétit Culinary Center Chef and enjoy the short drive to downtown Wellington, a capital revered for its rich culinary traditions. Being surrounded by steep hills, the city is rather compact, making it ideal for a 2 3/4 hours walking tour designed to appeal to food lovers.
One of the destinations on your guided walking tour is the waterfront Mojo Coffee, which offers a unique perspective on how it sources and roasts coffee beans. During your visit, you'll learn to identify different flavors and attributes of the various coffees through a technique called "cupping." You'll also have the chance to sample several fresh-roasted coffees such as Dr. Mojo's Feelgood, a well-balanced blend with hints of cocoa, and The Injection, a bright aromatic coffee.
Then, it's on to Moore Wilson's, a family-operated grocery that has been providing fresh, locally produced foods since 1918. With a chef leading the way through the aisles, you'll gather all sorts of wonderful ingredients for the cooking demonstration that follows at Martin Bosley's waterfront restaurant.
Chef-owner Bosley will offer his culinary insights while preparing your lunch, which will most likely center around dishes made with wild-caught fish using sustainable fishing methods. Wine tastings add the perfect complement to your meal. Expect an extraordinary dining experience as year after year Martin Bosley's captures Wellington's most prestigious culinary awards. Afterwards, enjoy an enlightening tour of the kitchen before rejoining your coach and transferring back to the pier.
