Discover the charm of medieval Rostock on this delightful half-day tour that starts with a short coach transfer to Rostock. Along the way, enjoy a nice view of this Hanseatic city's suburbs as you make your way to the city center.
Upon arrival, you will embark on a walking tour that passes by many of the city's major sights, such as the impressive fountain and the main building of the University of Rostock, as well as the grounds of the Holy Cross Convent. After a brief amount of free time, you will next follow your guide through Rostock's main shopping mile -the Kropelin Street- while en route to the new market. On your way, you will pass by the old library.
Reaching the new market, take the opportunity to snap some photos of Rostock's pink town hall and surrounding gabled houses. You can also admire St. Mary's Church, a true masterpiece of architecture that dates back to medieval times.
Re-joining your coach, it's a short drive to St. Peter's Church where you can enjoy a bird's eye panoramic view over Rostock from its 360 ft. high tower. An elevator ride gives you the opportunity to see the illuminated tower construction and a champagne reception awaits you before continuing on to your final stop, a blue print studio for a demonstration of this old handicraft.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 1 1/2 hours of walking over mostly flat surfaces. Those guests not wishing to use the elevator at St. Peter's Church may reach the top via climbing 196 steps. The tour is not recommended to wheelchair guests and those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Weather appropriate clothing and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. It is suggested guests bring local currency as not all shops accept U.S. currency.
