View the dramatic coastline of the Bohuslän archipelago from the unique perspective of a small boat on a leisurely cruise to the sophisticated fishing village of Smögen.
After a short walk along the pier, you will board a local boat for a two-hour cruise through the thousands of scattered islands and islets known as the Bohuslän archipelago. The terrain of these landmasses is flat, rocky and ruggedly beautiful. As you skirt along the coastlines, you will likely see sailboats and sea kayaks carving their way through the sparkling water, seals basking in the sun or frolicking offshore, and small fishing villages nestled among the natural coves. Along the way, your guide will elaborate on how this area was first settled.
In time, you will land in tiny Smögen, a fishing village so photogenic that in the 1930s it became an elegant vacation spot, as well. Much of the activity focuses around Smögen’s 19th-century boat landings, which have long been united to form one continuous wooden pier. After a guided walking tour, you will have free time to stroll about as you please. There are fashionable boutiques along the waterfront, or you may wish to grab a quick snack at one of the seafood restaurants. Specialties include prawn sandwiches, salmon cakes and grilled halibut.
Rather than cruise back to Lysekil, you will travel by coach, first crossing the bridge that links Smögen to Kunshamn, and then continuing along the picturesque coast to Lysekil.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 40-minutes of easy walking, plus any additional walking at the guests’ discretion during free time. There are some inclines in Smögen, but these can be avoided. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Those who suffer from motion sickness are advised to take preventative measures. Weather appropriate clothing to include a light jacket; sun cap; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
