Visit two of Flanders best preserved medieval cities, Ghent and Bruges. Ghent is the home to one of the world's greatest oil paintings, Van Eyck's "Adoration of the Mystic Lamb," and picture-perfect Bruges is a city frozen in time.
Board your coach and drive approximately one hour through the scenic Flemish countryside to historic Ghent. Upon arriving, your guided walking tour begins at St. Michael's bridge, where you'll have impressive views of the historic city center. From this vantage point, you can see the old port with gabled houses, the Castle of the Counts and the famous "Row of Three Towers." Cross the bridge and pass the Belfry Tower to reach St. Bavo's Cathedral. Inside, see the ornate wooden pulpit and the world-famous oil painting "The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb" by the Van Eyck brothers.
Afterwards, you'll drive to the smaller and charming city of Bruges, often called "Die Scone" or "The Beautiful." Step back in time as you join your guide for a walking tour through the narrow, twisting, cobbled streets passing picturesque scenes of ancient buildings, tree-lined canals and gabled facades. See the bustling marketplace, Belfry Tower, Town Hall and the Chapel of the Holy Blood.
Refresh yourself with a lunch at a typical Bruges restaurant before some free time (approximately 45 minutes) to explore the many chocolate and lace shops of Bruges. Your guide will lead you by the romantic "Lake of Love" as you return to the coach for the drive back to the ship.
