Boarding your coach at the pier, you'll make the approximately three hour scenic drive to Berlin. Upon arrival in the city, you'll enjoy an engaging panoramic overview. Highlights include the Gendarmenmarkt; Unter den Linden, or "Under the Linden Trees," the tree-lined boulevard that runs between the Brandenburg Gate and the Lustgarten Park; the Reichstag and the Victory Column. You will also see where the former city palace used to stand and where its reconstruction is now being completed. Opposite the palace stands the imposing structure of the Berliner Dom, the largest Protestant church in Northern Germany, built as the principal church and resting place for the Hohenzollern Royal Family.

Next, it's on to Potsdam, the summer residence of the Prussian kings and emperors. Your coach will travel there via Royal Route No.1, the first Prussian Highway. On the way, you will cross over the River Havel on the Bridge of Glienicke, which was used during the Cold War to exchange spies. Then, you will arrive at the Palace Cecilienhof, the venue of the 1945 Potsdam Conference, during which Truman, Churchill and Stalin agreed upon the division of Germany.

Enjoy some free time to have lunch on your own before continuing to another famous summer palace, Sanssouci, nestled atop six terraced vineyards. This grand estate dates back to the 18th century and ranks among the most beautiful Rococo buildings in all of Europe.

Back in downtown Potsdam, you will have a chance to take a leisurely stroll through the Dutch Quarter, which is alive with bars, cafés and restaurants and hosts an array of antiques stores and boutiques. Afterwards, you'll re-board your coach and venture through the Baroque district of Potsdam before beginning your approximately three-hour return journey to Warnemünde, savoring a sense of times gone-by along the way.

Please note: It is recommended that guests dress in warm, layered clothing; bring rain gear; and wear flat, comfortable walking shoes. Participants should be aware that this excursion includes an approximately six-hour, round-trip motor coach ride to Berlin. However, the fascinating sights included in this excursion are its main focus and more than compensate for the length of the journey. To avoid congestion, the order of sights visited may vary.
