Board your motor coach at the harbor and follow the coastal road, taking in delightful vistas of the vibrant sea and rich green islands. The layers of volcanic ash and lava that are the hallmark of the Faeroes are most striking as you venture on toward the village of Kollafjördur. Its superbly preserved church dates from 1837 and is replete with grass-roof and black-tarred sides.
Venturing on from Kollafjördur, enter a broad valley and follow a meandering stream deep into the mountains to Saksun, nestled at the brink of a round sea pool surrounded by soaring, emerald-green mountains. One of the most famous historic landmarks in the Faeroe Islands, the ancient farmstead in the village of Saksun dates from the Middle Ages. Traverse the centuries as you explore the farmhouse rooms. Outside, the vistas are spellbinding.
Leaving this magical valley, journey back to Tórshavn along the mountain road, enjoying panoramic glimpses of mountain, sea and fjord. Pause for a moment to capture a photo of the ship and the colorful capital spread below you before returning to the pier.
