Enjoy discovering Tallinn's Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and fabulous Kadriorg Palace on this tour that showcases some of Tallinn's most charming attractions.
Commencing at the pier, you will first make the short drive by coach into the heart of Tallinn's colorful Old Town, where ancient walls and tower gateways can be seen. Leaving your coach behind, you will enjoy a guided walking tour which begins at Tall Hermann Tower and proceeds a short distance up Toompea Hill to Palace Square. Here, you can visit the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which dominates the city skyline, and houses numerous gold icons and mosaics inside.
Next, you will continue along Tallinn's medieval cobbled streets were you might see the Gothic Dome Church, also known as St. Mary's Cathedral. Before rejoining your coach, you will make your way to a scenic viewpoint which offers some great views over the Lower Town rooftops.
A 30-minute drive from Old Town brings you to impressive Kadriorg Palace, built in 1718 by Peter the Great in honor of his empress wife Catherine I. Its magnificent scale is enhanced by its setting on several levels, with upper and lower gardens in contrasting styles. The Swan Pond in the Lower Garden is a truly a visual delight. Kadriorg means "Catherine's valley" in Estonian, although the palace was seldom visited by the Tsarina. Since the Russian revolution, the ornate palace rooms have been used as an art museum, and following a closure in recent years, Kadriorg has reopened in its former glory. After viewing highlights of the European art on display here, you will make your way outside for a pleasant stroll through the Lower Garden. Afterwards, you will re-board your coach and transfer back to the pier where your tour concludes.
