On this Copenhagen Brewery tour you will visit two notable breweries, one being the Carslberg Brewery, which is one of the Nordic region's oldest breweries. You will also admire beautiful architecture and sculptures, including a small version of the Little Mermaid from 1937 and taste and enjoy the beers of two great Copenhagen Breweries.
Departing the pier by coach, you will first make your way to the Carlsberg Brewery Visitors' Center. Upon arrival, you will drive past the amazing Elephant Gate, the most famous building of the Carlsberg Brewery Site consisting of four life-size granite elephants, each one of them bearing the initials of Carl Jacobsen's four surviving children.
The Visitor's Center is located in the 1947 building which housed the original brewery. Your guided tour will start at the old granary and from there you will walk through the main exhibition which presents highlights from Carlsberg's fascinating historical development. You will continue through the sculpture garden where you can see a part of Carl Jacobsen's collection which includes a Rodin and a small version of the Little Mermaid from 1937. You will also pass the old villa of JC Jacobsen and the horse stables before heading to the Bar Jacobsen.
The tour of Carlsberg Brewery ends at the Bar Jacobsen which is located in the Old Carlsberg warehouse. Here, at the 59 ft copper-plated bar that overlooks three copper vats and the Jacobsen bottling line below. After a short break to do some shopping, your rejoin your coach and head to your next brewery, Nørrebro Bryghus.
Nørrebro Bryghus is the vision and dream of master brewer Anders Kissmeyer. Anders started his career controlling the quality of Carlsberg breweries around the world and he is now part of one of the best micro breweries in the city of Copenhagen. A guide from the Brewery will take you on a tour explaining the various tastes, ingredients and brewing processes while you sample four of their fantastic beers. As they are always experimenting with well-known beer types and new recipes, we are never sure exactly which beers will be available. Maybe their refreshing version of a Belgian white, a classic Pilsner with its distinctive malty taste or a powerful Bombay Ale. But one thing is for certain, they will taste great! After a short time for shopping at the Brewery beer shop you will return by coach to the pier.
Please note: This tour does not operate on Sundays or Mondays. There will be steps to negotiate at the breweries.
