À La Carte Excursions | General Information
Add To Plan
This lovely excursion is ideal for guests seeking a pleasant, refreshing walk through beautiful parklands. Departing from the pier, your coach will bring you through the center of Stockholm and on towards Haga Park, the world's first National City Park. It is also considered to be one of the world's most beautiful English-style parks.
The idea for the park began in the 18th century with King Gustav III's desire to bring country life into the city. His dream was to lay out Haga's land as a pleasure park with a palace in the fashion of Versailles. Was he successful? See for yourself by meandering through the green hills and parklands, passing classic buildings such as the Gustav III Pavilion and the Echo Temple, built as a summer dining room for Gustav III. The park also contains the 19th-century villa-like Haga Palace, which the Swedish government still uses to accommodate and entertain official visitors on state visits. Later, you'll make your way towards the Copper Tent Inn, which dates back to the 1780s, and then have some free time to explore on your own before returning to the ship by coach.
Please note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 3 miles over varying terrain and a portion of the route will be uphill. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests or those with mobility concerns. Participants should be in good physical condition. Low heeled, comfortable walking shoes and comfortable, loose clothing are recommended. Guests should be aware that there are certain inherent risks involved in any hiking/walking excursion. A parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of 18 years. This tour will operate in all weather conditions.
