Departing the pier by coach, you'll proceed directly to the Technical Museum in Puetnitz. Here, you will find communistic vehicles exhibited in three hangers on the grounds of a former airplane field. As you learn about the various vehicles, you may even touch these exhibits in this hands-on museum. Admire old tschaikas (limousines of the former Russian Government) as well as trabis (popular German cars during the times of the GDR or German Democratic Republic). The highlight of your visit will be a demonstration of an S-IL 135 truck or amphibious vehicle.
Re-boarding your coach, you'll travel to the city center of Rostock, passing by concrete block buildings from the 1960s. View this typical architecture of the former GDR as your guide describes life before and after the Berlin Wall came down.
Upon arrival in Rostock, you will visit the StaSi (State Security) prison and be afforded a glimpse of one of the prison cells. As you view original documents and historic pictures, the history of divided Germany will come to life.
Departing the prison, you'll rejoin your coach and travel back to the pier. En route, your guide will further describe the times of the Cold War and reunification in Germany.
