POST - Invitation To Prague

POST - Invitation To Prague

Explore the wonders of Prague and Cesky Krumlov, two architecturally rich UNESCO World Heritage Sites whose treasures include medieval castles, historical churches and town squares little changed over the centuries.

DAY 1

Disembark the ship and transfer to the Copenhagen Airport for your flight to Prague

Upon arrival in Prague you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

The remainder of the day and evening are at your leisure

DAY 2

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will depart on a half-day sightseeing tour. The first stop will be Prague Castle, the largest medieval castle in Europe. Founded in 870 AD, it was the seat of the Kings of Bohemia for centuries, and today the president of the Czech Republic rules from here.

Overlooking the city, the hilltop Prague Castle complex covers more than 18 acres and is centered in between three great courtyards. St. Vitus Cathedral is the dominant building in the complex and the most recognizable landmark in the city. Renovations following wars and fires, along with differing political forces, have combined to create an intriguing mix of churches, palaces, fortifications, museums, art galleries and a monastery.

After visiting the castle, you will walk along the pedestrian-only Charles Bridge, which leads to Prague’s beautiful Old Town. At its heart stands the Old Town Square, a lively gathering place with historical facades and cobbled walkways.

Created in the 12th century as the central marketplace, Old Town Square has since been expanded to include a multitude of buildings in the Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic styles. Don’t miss the renowned astronomical clock.

Then, enjoy a walk around the Jewish Quarter, which was created in the 13th century, when the city’s Jews were ordered to vacate their homes and settle in this area. Later known as the Prague Jewish Ghetto, the quarter endured centuries of architectural changes, many of which can still be seen. The most remarkable sights include the Old-New Synagogue, Spanish Synagogue, Town Hall, and Old Jewish Cemetery.

In time, you will walk the short distance back to the hotel and spend the remainder of the afternoon at your leisure. Dinner at the hotel follows, after which you will spend the evening at the hotel.

DAY 3

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then enjoy a scenic drive through the Bohemian countryside to the medieval city of Cesky Krumlov. Like Prague, Cesky Krumlov is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a distinction it earned for being an outstanding example of a small central European medieval town whose architecture has survived intact for centuries.

Upon arriving, you will tour the mighty Renaissance castle, once the seat of the powerful Rožmberk and Schwarzenberg families. The castle was built in 1240 and houses a rich collection of period furniture, Flemish tapestries and historical weapons.

Later, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and a stroll through Cesky Krumlov’s quaint old streets, which are lined with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque houses. These historical buildings once belonged to wealthy noblemen.

Free time follows, during which you may shop, explore the labyrinthine alleyways, drop into a traditional pub, and wander along the banks of the River Vltava. Afterward, you will drive back to the hotel in Prague, where dinner will be on your own.

DAY 4

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Check out is at 12:00pm. Please remember to settle your personal incidental account with the hotel prior to leaving. You will be transferred to the Prague Airport for your flight home based on your flight details. For guests with late flights, luggage storage will be available at the hotel.
