An excellent introduction to Montreal, this excursion presents an overview of the city's history and culture with stops in several of its most memorable attractions.

Depart from the pier for a scenic drive through Montreal, skirting along the renovated Old Port. Before long, you will arrive at the Notre-Dame Basilica, Canada's first Gothic Revival-style church. When completed in 1829, it was the largest house of worship in North America and it still commands attention. The interior is absolutely stunning with its exquisite gold-leaf woodwork, glorious high altar, and inspiring statues of prophets.

Next, you'll pass by another Montreal religious landmark, St. Joseph's Oratory, which is easily recognizable by its giant copper dome. This great basilica, perched high on the slopes of Mount Royale, draws pilgrims from all over, who come to pray for healing.

Your tour continues with a drive into Mount Royal Park, parts of which were originally landscaped by Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed New York's Central Park. Being the highest point in the city, the park affords wonderful views of Montreal's skyline, the St. Lawrence River and the surrounding countryside which you can capture pictures of during your photo stop.

For yet another perspective of Montreal, particularly its architecture, you will drive through the Golden Square Mile. More than a century ago, the wealthiest families lived in this neighborhood, and it is lined with Victorian mansions and other grand buildings in styles ranging from Renaissance to Germanic. Afterwards, you will return to the pier.

Please note: This tour is mostly panoramic in nature with limited optional walking at the stops. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Weather appropriate clothing; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable shoes are recommended.
