Nature takes center stage on this excursion to Montreal's outstanding botanical garden, environmentally diverse Biodome, and Olympic Tower, an engineering marvel.

Depart from the pier and enjoy a short drive to the Montreal Botanical Garden, a living museum of thousands of species arranged in dozens of thematic gardens and greenhouses. After an informative introduction, you will be free to wander about the winding paths. You might see one of North America's largest collections of orchids, exotic aquatic lotuses, and bizarrely shaped fleshy succulents. If you visit the Courtyard of the Senses, you will be encouraged to experience the garden with all of your senses except sight.

A panoramic view; however, is definitely the draw at your next stop, the Olympic Tower. The world's highest inclined tower, it soars skyward at a 45-degree angle (comparatively, the slope of the Leaning Tower of Pisa is only 5 degrees). It's quite a thrill to ride to the top on the funicular that skirts up the building's exterior, observing the natural beauty of Montreal.

The tower was built for the 1976 Summer Olympics and so was the nearby Biodome, which served as the velodrome. It now holds re-creations of five ecosystems, including a tropical rainforest, Laurentian maple forest and sub-polar region much like that on the Labrador coast. Wandering through the exhibits, you will learn about the ecosystems and see the most representative examples of their flora and fauna. Afterwards, you will re-join your coach and return to the pier.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 3 hours of easy to moderate walking/standing over mostly flat surfaces and primarily at the guests' discretion. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Weather appropriate clothing; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
