Acadia National Park is a true National treasure and the second most visited National Park in the U.S. One man-made aspect of the park that never fails to impress and fascinate visitors are the 57 miles of rustic carriage roads, which weave through the park.

After a brief drive along a portion of the historic 27-mile Park Loop Road, you will arrive at Wildwood Stables, where your journey back in time to the turn of the last century commences. Boarding your 6-10 passenger horse-drawn carriage, you'll set off for a one-hour scenic ride along the Carriage Trails that will take you around Day Mountain. Built by philanthropist John D. Rockefeller between 1913 and 1940, the beautifully designed gravel byways afford a unique and close-up view of the Acadia National Park landscape. Constructed with hand-cut stone and rock, the extensive motor-free trails are enjoyed today by hikers, bicyclists, horse riders, and carriages.

Returning to the stables, you'll rejoin your coach and continue along the Park Loop Road, making your way to the 1530-foot Cadillac Mountain (weather and traffic/crowd conditions permitting), there will be a photo stop from atop the 1,530-foot Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on North America's eastern seaboard. ), highest point on North America's Eastern seaboard. With a 360-degree panoramic view, you will see how glaciers carved through the granite cliffs to form a beautiful landscape of lush forest, lakes and valleys.

If weather conditions do not permit a stop at Cadillac Mountain, a stop at the Visitors Center will substituted. Afterwards, you'll transfer directly back to the pier where your tour concludes.

Please note: This tour includes a limited amount of walking, mainly at the guests' discretion during the stops. There are some uneven surfaces and the possibility of slippery surfaces under wet conditions at Cadillac Mountain. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of ability as they must negotiate 2 high steps to enter and exit the carriage. Weather appropriate clothing and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested.
