Saint John is beautiful from every perspective, and this spectacular tour presents it up close on land and from the sea as you cruise the city's picturesque harbor and Bay of Fundy.

Your tour commences with a drive through Saint John's historic uptown district. Discover the fascinating past of Canada's oldest city, which was incorporated in 1785 and is the largest in the province of New Brunswick. Although the Great Fire of 1877 destroyed much of the city, a building boom soon followed, and Saint John now boasts a wealth of fantastic Victorian buildings.

You'll get a great view of Saint John from Fort Howe, an 18th century British fortress built on the strategic point where the Saint John River meets the Bay of Fundy before continuing on to Fallsview Park. During a stop here, you'll see the strange phenomenon of Reversing Falls Rapids, which is caused by a bay tide that rises more than 28 feet. When the tide is low, the river empties into the bay. As the tide rises, the water begins to churn in a series of powerful rapids and whirlpools until the river actually flows backwards. The water flow doesn't reverse until the tide goes out hours later.

Next, you'll board an enclosed sightseeing boat and cruise around the harbor for a much closer look at the Reversing Falls Rapids. It's an amazing sight, as is the ruggedly scenic shoreline.

Following your scenic cruise, you'll disembark at Market Slip, where you can take a five-minute walk back to the pier or remain in town to explore on your own.

Please note: While this tour has a limited amount of walking, mainly at the guests' discretion during the stops, there is a 60-step ramp to access the floating wharf in order to board the boat. The incline can vary dependent upon the tide. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests is not considered suitable for those with mobility concerns. Layered clothing and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Tidal activity at the Reversing Falls Rapids cannot be guaranteed.
