Charleston, SC is one of the most unique and historic cities in the south and during this informative tour, your private guide will relate its over three hundred years of history while passing by beautiful homes, historic churches, magnificent public buildings and many other points of interest.

Starting off from the pier, you will first make your way to see Hampton Park and The Citadel. Next, you will see the beautiful Second Presbyterian Church, a classic revival building that was built between 1809-1811. The church's congregation just celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2011.

It's a short stroll from the church to the Joseph Manigault House, the highlight of your tour. Built in 1803 by a wealthy rice planter, this house is considered one of the finest examples of Adamesque Architecture in the country and is beautifully furnished with period antiques. During your visit, you will be treated to cookies and lemonade on the piazza of this stately home.

Following your time at the Joseph Manigault House, your coach will travel along the Battery where you can view the lovely homes built by wealthy rice and cotton planters between 1820 and 1850 and there will be a brief stop for photos. You will also see 18th century Rainbow Row (1740-1800) with its brightly colored single houses which at one time housed shops and homes when east Bay Street was right at the water's edge and the main street in Charleston. Before finding yourself back at the pier, you will pass Hibernian Hall, Charleston's Irish society, and the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, which is considered one of the three most important buildings in the country from the Revolutionary period.

Please note: This tour includes just over 1-hour of moderate walking/standing. There will be stairs to negotiate to reach the upper floors of the Joseph Manigault House. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and may not be suitable for those with mobility concerns who are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Casual yet nice clothing and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Tour participants must be at least 8 years of age. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
