This exciting expedition through the Sierra Madre Mountains has you trekking through the hills that encircle Puerto Vallarta and is geared for the physically fit and those who enjoy hiking adventures.
Begin with a short transfer from the pier to Hacienda Doña Engracia where your hike begins. Within minutes of starting out, you will be amazed by the diversity of scenery as you find yourself immersed in a tropical deciduous forest that is alive with color and abundant with wildlife. A knowledgeable eco-guide who is well-versed in the flora and fauna of the region accompanies you and will point out the highlights along the way answering any questions you may have. Along your route, you will make a stop at a volcanic hot water spring where you can take a quick dip and enjoy the wonderful views. After your relaxing respite at the hot spring, it's time to start heading back to the Hacienda where your approximately 2-hour hike will conclude.
Before transferring back to the pier, you'll have free time at the Hacienda to stroll about or do a bit of shopping.
Please note: This is an active tour which includes strenuous hiking, mainly over uneven terrain, natural surfaces and trails. The tour is only available to those in top physical condition and participants must be at least 12 years of age. Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Shorts and sturdy closed-toe shoes are recommended along with a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and insect repellant. Guests should wear a swimsuit under their clothes as depending on the season and local conditions, you may have to cross a river in waist-deep water. Guests may be asked to sign a release form before being allowed to take part in the tour.
