A scenic coach ride from the pier has you enjoying magnificent views of the tropical forest of the Chiapas Sierra Madre while on your way to the beautiful Buenos Aires Ranch. The grounds of the ranch are filled with a wide variety of colorful flowers that are native to the region and serve to further enhance this already lovely setting. The ranch is also home to a Tilapia Fish Farm where several species of Tilapia are raised. Tilapia farming and consumption are rapidly increasing and Tilapia is now the sixth most popular seafood consumed in the United States and the second most important group of farm-raised fish in the world.

After an enjoyable hour at Buenos Aires Ranch, you'll next travel to Tapachula, where a short walking tour of the downtown area will take you past several historical buildings. One of these is the Saint Augustine Church, located just across from the Miguel Hidalgo Central Park. Dating back to the late 18th century, this church is a wonderful example of neo-classical architecture. You'll also see the art deco culture house (the former city hall) which features some marvelous large stained-glass windows. These impressive works of art represent the spirit of the local citizens and the natural richness of the area found in its agriculture, cattle breeding and fishing.

Following your walking tour, you'll have free time to further explore on your own or do some shopping. You may wish to visit the Soconusco Archaeological Museum, which houses some impressive displays of ancient artifacts, such as stone sculptures, pottery and other items left behind by the Aztecs during their short foray into the region.

Miguel Hidalgo Central Park, also referred to as La plaza de la Música, (the musical square) is also another spot you won't want to miss. This lovely haven is considered the soul of the city because of the different mariachi and marimba musicians who gather there daily to play traditional Mexican music. The park has become a popular gathering spot and a place where visitors can enjoy shopping for handicrafts as they listen to the traditional melodies that identify this unique region of Mexico.

As your tour draws to a close, it's time to re-board your coach to make the return trip back to the ship.

Please note: This tour includes approximately 1 1/2 hours of walking plus any additional walking at the guests' discretion during free time.
