After tendering ashore, board an air-conditioned motor coach for your drive up to the village of Oia. It's known for picturesque views, cobblestone streets and beautiful mansions clinging to the cliffs above. Enjoy free time to stroll the narrow streets filled with quaint shops and cafés.
After about an hour, you will re-board your motor coach and proceed to the Archaeological Museum of Fira to view relics found from various excavations. Perhaps most impressive are those found at Akrotiri, a sophisticated society that disappeared thousands of years ago. Archaeological finds reveal the city at its zenith with plaster casts of furniture, stunning wall paintings, household equipment, bronze vessels, tools and weapons. Could this be the lost city of Atlantis?
Following the museum visit, you may take Santorini's famous cable car down to the old port, where you can re-board the tender and return to your ship.
Please note: As this excursion involves walking over uneven surfaces and inclines at several of the sights visited, it is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties. It is recommended that guests dress in casual clothing and wear flat, comfortable shoes. The excursion ends at Fira Town, where there is an approximately half-mile, uphill walk to reach the cable car station. The order of sights visited may vary.
