This lovely half-day tour takes you to one of Israel's major tourist attractions, Caesarea Maritime. Your tour starts with a scenic coach ride up to Mount Carmel where you will be afforded some magnificent views of Haifa Bay, the golden dome of Haifa's Baha'I Shrine and the city of Acre off in the distance.

Descending back to sea level, you'll enjoy a picturesque drive along the shores of the inviting Mediterranean Sea as you make your way to Caesarea Maritime. This ancient port city which is located between Hedera and Atlit was built by Herod the Great on the ruins of an ancient anchorage known as Stratton's tower. Named in honor of Herod's Roman patron, Augustus Caesar, the city became the capital of Roman and Byzantine Palestine. The city is also known as being the location of the Roman victory celebration after the fall of Jerusalem, as well as the place where Rabbi Akiva and his disciples were executed following the suppression of the Bar Kochba revolt.

A center for Christian learning during the 3rd century, Caesarea is considered an important site in Christian history. It is here that Pontius Pilate governed during the time of Jesus, where Simon Peter converted Cornelius and where Paul was imprisoned for 2 years. Destroyed at the end of the 13th century, this marvelous ancient city boasts an impressive Roman amphitheater where performances are still held today, an impressive Byzantine street, aqueduct and restored Crusader fortifications along with other artifacts. The once grand city, whose remnants are still regally poised on the edge of the brilliant blue waters of the Mediterranean, will no doubt leave you with many lasting memories. All too soon, it's time to re-board your coach for the drive back to the pier in Haifa.

Please note: The sights on this tour are not wheelchair accessible and therefore, it is not available to wheelchair guests. This tour includes a moderate amount of walking - at times on uneven surfaces. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina.
