Spend a relaxing half-day enjoying the lengthy beach and palm-shaded swimming pools at the spectacular Crowne Plaza Resort on the Arabian Sea.
Depart from the pier and begin a leisurely drive east through Salalah, once a royal stronghold for the country’s sultans. Built around the ancient port of Samhuran along the Frankincense trade route, Salalah has grown to become the second-largest city in Oman.
Before long, you will arrive at the Crowne Plaza Resort, which is beautifully situated on 42 acres of oceanfront property. Consider it your oasis for the next several hours, as you will have complete access to its magnificent beach and three interconnecting swimming pools.
With no schedule to follow, you can do whatever you please at your own pace. You might lie on the beach, basking in the sun or under an umbrella, while reading a recent bestseller. You could walk along the long stretch of powdery sand, occasionally wading out into the ocean for a refreshing swim.
Or if you prefer fresh water to ocean water, head over to the series of swimming pools. There are plenty of lounge chairs, graceful coconut palms providing shade and an outdoor bar for refreshments. The setting is so conducive to relaxation it’s no wonder that the Queen of Sheba built a palace nearby.
After spending approximately three hours at the Crowne Plaza Resort, you will return to the pier.
Please note: Walking on this tour is mainly at the guests’ discretion. There will be sandy and uneven surfaces to negotiate at the beach. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Bring your swimsuit; sun cap; sunglasses; sunscreen; a towel from the ship; and flat, comfortable shoes. Food and drink will be available for purchase at the resort.
