Starting off from the pier, it's a short transfer to the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral - Yalta's central Russian Orthodox place of worship. This beautiful cathedral with its golden onion domes, is quite spectacular to view. Built in 1902 in memory of Alexander II, it is perhaps best-known for its mosaic of the ancient Russian Prince, who is also a Russian saint. A visit to the ornamental interior is also included during your stop.
Leaving the cathedral behind, you will next commence a walk along the scenic seafront, enjoying a photo stop at the monument to Chekhov and Lady with a Lap Dog and the Chekhov Theater before rejoining your coach and traveling through the city to Anton Chekhov's Memorial House. It was here that the Great Russian author wrote his well-known short story, "The Lady with a Lap Dog" along with the classic plays, "The Cherry Orchard" and "The Three Sisters." Chekhov himself designed the quaint white house and delightful gardens that it sits within. The wonderful gardens themselves are considered worth a visit.
Adjacent to the house is a modern visitor's center that has exhibitions devoted to Chekhov's life and work. It is here that you will be treated to an exclusive performance of 19th century romance songs before returning to the pier.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 1 1/2 hours of moderate walking and/or standing with steep steps at the Chekhov house. The tour is not considered suitable for wheelchair guests and those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. A hat and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
