Leaving the pier, your guide will first lead you to the Pile Gate, where your special walking exploration of Dubrovnik's Old Town and its wall begins.
The old city of Dubrovnik and its walls have been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and its ramparts are remarkable intact. The circumference of the walls cover over 1.5 miles and serve to embrace the environs of this historic old city.
Ascending the stairway (approximately 50 steps) at the Pile Gate, you'll reach the top of the wall where your guide will lead you on a walking tour along its length. Along the way, you'll see the Minèeta Fortress, St. John's Fortress, Bokar Fortress and the Maritime Museum which presents the historic maritime heritage of the local area with an array of artifacts and documents from antiquity to present day.
Reaching the Stradun, the center of Old Town, you will have approximately one hour of free time to explore the town independently before boarding your coach for the return transfer to the ship.
Please Note: Total walking on this tour covers approximately 1-mile, plus any additional walking at the guests' discretion during free time. There are steps, inclines and cobblestone surfaces to negotiate. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests or those with mobility concerns. Weather appropriate clothing; sun cap; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Guests who wish to visit the Maritime Museum while on the tour will need to pay the entrance fee separately. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
