For a truly memorable Australian experience, join fellow guests for a visit to the amazing Rainforestation Nature Park, journey aboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway, and a ride on a World War II Army Duck.
Leaving the pier, you'll first travel by coach to the nearby Freshwater Railway Station. After boarding the train, sit back and enjoy this incredible journey, ascending 1,076 feet, passing magnificent waterfalls, traveling through 15 tunnels and crossing 40 bridges. During your 90-minute journey, an informative presentation will enhance this delightfully unique adventure that transports you through the ancient rainforest.
Your rail journey will end at Kuranda Railway Station, and after a brief drive through the township of Kuranda, you'll continue on to the extraordinary Rainforestation, for a ride on an amphibious Army Duck. This World Heritage-listed jungle features expansive views and a knowledgeable commentary from your Duck Captain, who will navigate your Army Duck up the jungle along the water's edge. Here, it's not unusual to see water goannas soaking up the sun, a python slithering up a tree, and turtles, fish and eels swimming around the vessel.
You will also be treated with a visit to the Koala and Wildlife Sanctuary, which forms part of this vast 100-acre park. Here, you can see koalas, wander amongst free-roaming kangaroos and wallabies, and visit an exciting nocturnal display. The Wildlife Sanctuary also gives visitors the chance to have a keepsake photo taken while holding an adorable koala. This photo is optional and not included in your tour cost.
At the conclusion of your tour, your coach will travel back down the mountain, affording you further scenic views of the Cairns region, the Coral Sea and Green Island before you return to the ship.
