Of the 235 islands that comprise Hong Kong, Lantau Island is the largest. Blessed with white sand beaches, lush green mountains, a quaint fishing village and the solemn Po Lin Monastery, Lantau Island offers a pleasant respite from the city's constant clamor. This full day tour begins with a drive to Tsing Yi Lookout, commanding a magnificent panoramic view of the Tsing Ma Bridge. Following photos at the lookout, drive to the Tung Chung Terminal to change coaches for the drive on Lantau Island. Drive along the winding roads to Tai O Village, also known as "Hong Kong's Venice" because of its many crisscrossing waterways. Not yet polluted by city life, this simple fishing village has numerous temples, wooden houses built on stilts and friendly people. Following a walking tour of Tai O, proceed to the Po Lin Monastery, located at an altitude of 1,700 feet on the Ngong Ping Plateau. Opened in 1970, the main attraction at the monastery is its 250-ton, 102-foot-high Great Bronze Buddha statue, the largest seated Buddha statue in Asia. The pedestal of the statue is a three-story exhibition hall embellished with Buddhist figures and scriptures. Take time to enjoy the serene temple and grounds, as well as an excellent vegetarian lunch prepared by the resident monks. Take a cable car ride by Ngong Ping Skyrail, which is a visually spectacular 5.7km cable car journey, traveling between Tung Chung Town Centre and Ngong Ping on Lantau Island. You will enjoy some of the best views in Hong Kong, as their cable car cabin glides over the South China Sea and North Lantau Country Park on an amazing 20-25 minute experience. Drive back to ship after the cable car ride.

Please note : If the weather condition does not permit taking a cable car, we will drive directly to the ship.
