Sail off to idyllic Coche Island in a catamaran to spend a leisurely day at the beach, where you are free to enjoy the laid-back, unspoiled setting at your own pace.
Depart from the harbor in a sleek 42-foot catamaran and sail due south toward Coche Island, a rather arid island that lies between Isla de Margarita and the Venezuelan mainland. The first settlers arrived in the early 16th century to work in the pearl oyster beds and to extract salt from the abundant deposits. Today, the island primarily revolves around its spectacular beaches because the sun nearly always shines here.
Upon arriving at Coche Island, you will enjoy approximately three hours at one of its finest beaches. You are free to do whatever you please on this stretch of sugary-white sand. Beach chairs, beverages and plenty of tropical fruits are available throughout your time here, but don’t feel obliged to stay in one place. You might stroll down the pristine shore, go for an invigorating swim, or watch the windsurfers and kiteboarders that frequent this area because of the ideal water conditions. Of course, you are also welcome to do nothing more ambitious than lie in the sun or shade with good book in hand.
Following your time on laid-back Coche Island, you will re-board the catamaran and sail back to the pier. From this vantage point on the water, your perspective will be much like the one Columbus had when he sailed these waters in 1498.
Please note: Walking on this tour is mainly at the guests’ discretion. At the beach there will be sandy surfaces to negotiate. Guests must be agile enough to enter and exit the catamaran with limited assistance. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and may not be suitable for those with mobility concerns who are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. A swimsuit worn under a cover-up; sun cap; sunglasses; sunscreen; a towel from the ship; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Those who take part in any water activities do so at their own risk and responsibility.
