For those who wish to truly immerse themselves in the local culture and travel off the beaten-path, this tour will give you an authentic glimpse into Oaxaca's and Mexico's roots, as seen from the neighboring communities that surround the Bays of Huatulco resort area. Travel to three small communities, all the while learning about their local culture, social characteristics, habits and customs.

Traveling by van from the pier, you'll first head to Piedra de Moros where you'll visit a nursery that raises edible and medicinal plants that are indigenous to the area and part of daily life here. You'll also visit a traditional Mexican kitchen, observing how tortillas and tamales are made and enjoy a tasty sample. From here, it's on to Pueblo Viejo where you'll view plots of land that are devoted to the cultivation of citrus fruits. There's also a demonstration of the hand-crafting of cooking pots and adobe bricks, the latter used in the construction of local homes.

Your final stop is at El Limoncito where you'll visit the citrus plantation and watch artisans as they intricately weave palm leaves into a variety of useful items.

Returning to the pier, you'll be filled with a new sense of appreciation for the gracious and hard-working people who are the back-bone of this beautiful and multi-faceted area of Mexico that is sure to leave you completely captivated.
