Gaze out over magnificent Maui from the rim of a volcanic crater, and then descend into the fertile countryside to visit a lavender farm, vineyard and dairy.
Departing from the pier, you will first drive southeast across Maui to lovely Haleakala National Park, home to more endangered species than any other national park in America. You may see Hawaiian geese known as nenes, rare tree heliotropes and Indian almonds. Still, the most spectacular sight will be from atop dormant Haleakala volcano, which soars more than 10,000 feet above the deeply sculpted, richly colored volcanic landscape. If the weather conditions are right, you can catch a glimpse of three other Hawaiian islands.
Next, you will drive to the Maui Lavender Company, which grows dozens of varieties of this fragrant flower, whose scent is thought to relax, rejuvenate and renew. All things lavender are available for purchase, including aromatherapy oil, organic body scrubs, and even scented dog shampoo. During your visit, you will be treated to a tasty lunch.
Following lunch, you will drive to Tedeschi Vineyards on the 20,000-acre Ulupalakua Ranch in Maui's upcountry. The vineyard has been producing wine for nearly four decades, and you will have the chance to sample some of its finest vintages. Similarly, at the nearby acclaimed Surfing Goat Dairy, you may savor their delectable offerings, which include more than 25 award-winning goat cheeses that include fresh creamy Chevre and Feta. Relax in the Maui sunshine and enjoy your tasty treat before heading back to the pier where your tour concludes.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 3-hours of moderate walking. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests or those with mobility concerns or who must use walkers. Additionally, this tour is not recommended for those with heart or respiratory conditions as elevation at the summit reaches 10,000 feet. Layered, casual clothing; a light jacket (conditions can be cool at the summit of Haleakala); sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested.
