Starting off from the pier, it's a day of good fun as you discover the charm and character of Hobart and its environs. A scenic drive brings you to your first stop, the Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park , renowned for its incredible array of native Australian and distinctly Tasmanian fauna.

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by knowledgeable park rangers who will provide you with a wealth of information about Tasmania's native wildlife and then you are free to either stroll around the park with your guide, or explore independently at your own pace. Wombats, koalas, free-roaming kangaroos, Tasmanian Devils and rare spotted Quoll are just a few of the indigenous creatures that can be found at this delightful wildlife park. At each natural habitat enclosure, an animal keeper will be strategically stationed to provide you with fascinating facts, answer your questions and happily hold many of the park's residents so that they may be photographed and petted. You will also have a chance to hand-feed the Forester Kangaroos which are normally only found in the wild on Maria Island and in Mt. William National Park.

You'll next travel to your second stop, the fascinating Port Arthur Historic Site, the most intact and evocative historic prison in Australia. Arriving at the site, you will be joined by a specialist guide who will take you on an approximately 40-minute guided walking tour of this 242-acre attraction that is situated around picturesque Mason Cove. Established on the Tasman Peninsula as a timber-cutting station in 1830, Port Arthur grew in size and importance in the last decades of convict transportation. More than 12,000 convicts passed through the system at Port Arthur. During your visit you will view the penitentiary, the convict-designed church, the "Model Prison," the hospital and the guard house. There will also be free time for you to further explore at your leisure and have lunch on your own in the cafeteria. Before re-joining your coach for the 90-minute drive back to Hobart, you'll enjoy a relaxing harbour cruise where you will be able to view this impressive attraction from a completely different perspective.

Please note: This tour consists of a significant amount of moderate to strenuous walking over a mixture of surfaces and there are slopes, stairs and narrow doorways to negotiate; therefore, it is not available to wheelchair guests and considered unsuitable for those with mobility concerns. It is recommended that guests wear flat, comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat, sunglasses, sun screen and insect repellent. The order of sights visited may vary and the itinerary may be reversed. This tour does not operate with a separate guide, but rather with a driver/guide.
