This tour is geared toward nature lovers who enjoy peace and tranquility while participating in an active hiking experience.
Leaving the pier, you will first travel by van drive along the Carenage, which is Grenada's locked harbor, and then on through the town of St. George over the old Fort Road. A brief photo stop is made before continuing along St. Paul's road to St. David's. Here, just 15-minutes from St. George's and a few minutes off the main road, you will find Morne Gazo, an undisturbed rain forest covering a conical hill that rises to 1,140 feet above sea level. The hill is sheathed by a well-preserved tropical semi-deciduous rain forest and is the only remaining area in the country with this type of forest. Largely unsuitable for cultivation, the area remains un-cleared and is important as a watershed area and source of medicines, wild life and recreation.
A vigorous hike brings you to the summit of Morne Gazo, where you will be treated to a wonderful panoramic view that ranges from Point Salines in the south of the island, all the way across to Grand Etang's forested hills and down towards La Sagesse, almost a 360 degree view.
From Morne Gazo, your tour continues along the Westerhall Main road via the sugar belt, passing a quaint little Sugar Factory while on your way to famous Grand Anse Beach. Here, you will be welcomed with either a rum punch, local beer or soft drink and be afforded up to 1-hour of free time on the beautiful sandy beach. Changing facilities are available for those wishing to swim in the clear waters of this delightful beach before it's time to make your way back to St. George's and your waiting ship.
