Get a first-hand look at Halifax's lobster industry during this lobster boat tour that travels along the coast of Nova Scotia and culminates with a delicious lobster lunch.
Depart the pier with your guide for the brief walk to your boat, Peggy's Cove Express. After embarking, you will head out into the Great North Atlantic. Along the way, you will hear a brief commentary about Halifax Harbor before helping the captain and crew pull up a lobster trap and then hold a live lobster in your hands. The captain will educate you about lobster fishing in Nova Scotia, and the life cycle of the lobster and other crustaceans. Upon releasing the traps back into the ocean, your captain will navigate toward the first of three lighthouses you will view during your trip and you will learn about the importance of lighthouses to the mariner boating trade in Nova Scotia.
Following your boat tour, you will proceed to Murphy's restaurant for a lobster lunch. During your meal, your guide will demonstrate the proper way to crack open a lobster; an experience in itself. Your meal will include a 1.25-lb. lobster accompanied by traditional potato salad, coleslaw and hot butter. For dessert, enjoy a homemade deep-dish apple crisp. After lunch, there will be some free time allotted for you to browse for souvenirs at some of the local waterfront stores before returning to the pier.
