This charming half-day tour allows you to see many of Melbourne's highlights and begins with a drive to Fitzroy Gardens, located in the heart of Melbourne City. Begun in 1860, these magnificent gardens are laid out in the shape of the Union Jack. Hidden amongst the trees you will also find Cook's Cottage, the charming family home of Captain James Cook, the English navigator who explored the Southern Hemisphere in three great voyages and first 'discovered' the east coast of Australia. The two-story brick cottage and its adjoining stable were shipped over piece by piece from its original location in the north of England. There will be a guided tour of the cottage and the adjoining Conservatory before you re-join your coach and continue on to the city center. Relax and enjoy an informative narrative by your guide as you travel past many magnificent buildings, including The Treasury, Parliament House, the Windsor Hotel, the Princess Theatre and the marvelous Gothic buildings that are found along Collins Street.
Your next stop will be at the Shrine of Remembrance, one of the most stunning and recognizable landmarks of Melbourne. Here, you will have time to take photographs and perhaps climb up to the balcony if you are feeling energetic. From here, it's on to Melbourne's newest attraction, Eureka Skydeck 88. This impressive 92-story tall tower is currently the tallest apartment building in the world. The fastest elevators in the Southern Hemisphere will wisk you from the ground to the Level 88 Skydeck in a mere 40 seconds. From this towering vantage point, you will be afforded unparalleled 360 degree views of the city, Port Phillip Bay and the Dandenong Ranges through the Skydeck's floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
A transfer back to the pier concludes your tour.
Please note: This tour includes approximately 40 minutes of walking over mostly even surfaces. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who are able to both make their way on and off the coach and sit in a coach seat. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Comfortable, flat walking shoes are suggested. The order of the sites visited or viewed may vary.
