This relaxing tour gives you a great overview of Key West along with highlighting some of its most well-known historical landmarks. From the pier, it's a short walk to your tour vehicle, either an Old Town Trolley or the World Famous Conch Tour Train.

Riding in comfort, cooled by island breezes, you'll be taken back to the days before civilization when fierce Indians left their enemy's bones to bleach in a tropical wilderness, naming the island Bone Key. As you explore what is now a lush, tropical paradise, you'll discover the charm and grace of one of America's most unique architectural pleasures. Along the way, you'll get to know characters like John James Audubon, Ernest Hemingway and Harry S. Truman and just as they did, become captivated by the magic that is Key West. While your tour meanders its way through old town with its blend of tropical plants and flowers, you will pass by Historic Seaport, Southernmost Point, cigar maker's shot-gun houses, wrecker's mansions, unique churches and learn about the island's multi-cultural heritage. Along the way, you'll hear about Key West's unique role in the Civil War and Henry Flagler's dream - and how it came true. Picture in your mind how Key West would have looked just after the turn of the century as you arrived on a train that you had boarded in New York, making one final stop before heading onward to Havana.

From bold Spanish explorers and brave Wreckers, to the great cigar barons and sponge magnates, you'll be transported from the golden age of settlement through the exciting days of the railroad, the depression, World War II, and on past the Kennedy days into the present. This well researched and fact-filled tour truly shows and tells you all there is to know about this sub-tropical island paradise.

Next, you'll follow your guide approximately 3 blocks to President Harry S. Truman's Little White House, the only Presidential Museum in Florida. The Harry S. Truman Little White House in Key West was built in 1890 as the first officers' quarters on what was then the naval station. The wooden duplex contained Quarters A for the Base Commandant and Quarters B for the Paymaster. Built on the waterfront of the harbor of Key West, it was in the beginning of the 20th century that the home was converted into a single family dwelling to house the Commandant.

Over the years, the house has been host to many distinguished guests. Thomas Edison resided in the house during World War I, while working on depth charge research for the U.S. Navy. President Harry Truman began visiting the island for rest and relaxation. President Dwight Eisenhower used the home while recuperating from a heart attack in 1956.

Following a rich history of hosting dignitaries, Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell opened peace talks between the representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan and in January of 2005, President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton also enjoyed a tropical respite.

After your tour of this marvelous historical site, you are free to return to the ship or continue to explore Key West on your own.

Please note: This tour includes a limited amount of walking on paved surfaces and is available to wheelchair guests. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. There are some steps to negotiate at the Harry S. Truman Little White House and those wishing to visit the upper floors of the home would need to negotiate approximately 30 stair steps. Comfortable clothing, a hat, sunglasses and flat walking shoes are recommended.
