This full day tour allows you to absorb many of the outstanding highlights of Bangkok, with a minimum of walking. Boarding your coach, you'll first pass through vibrant Chinatown with its remnants of colonial architecture and narrow alleyways packed with shops selling precious gold and local delicacies. Your route then takes you past the Royal Parks and the massive Democracy Monument, dedicated to the ideals that led to Thailand's changeover to a democratic monarchy in 1932. Proceeding on, you'll travel by the extensive Grand Palace grounds, the National Museum compound, the Sacred City Pillar and the extravagant Wat Po, the oldest temple in Bangkok. Before stopping for lunch, you'll also view the towering Wat Arun - the Temple of the Dawn.
After a delightful buffet lunch at one Bangkok's leading riverside hotels, you'll be treated with a visit to the incredible Wat Suthat, home to a 14th century Buddha statue and exquisite mural paintings. A peaceful respite from the bustling streets outside, the temple courtyard is lined with stone statues that came to Thailand as ballast on Chinese trading ships. See the Giant Swing or Sao Ching Cha, which is used in an annual Brahman ceremony to honor Shiva's annual visit to earth. Before returning to the pier, you'll make a brief photo stop at City Pavilion and then be given time to shop at a local store specializing in quality souvenirs, local Thai handicrafts, textiles and jewelry.
Please note: This tour consists of some moderate walking and is not considered suitable for wheelchair guests. Comfortable, flat-heeled, closed-toe walking shoes are recommended. The actual tour duration may vary due to traffic conditions in Bangkok.
