This tour provides a wonderful introduction to Penang, incorporating visits to several notable attractions in the area while giving you an opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture. Starting off from the pier, you'll first enjoy a scenic drive from Georgetown's bustling waterfront into the serene and unspoiled countryside. It is here where you will find the Thai Buddhist Temple which houses what is believed to be the 4th largest reclining Buddha in the world. After a visit at the Temple, you'll continue on to a local batik factory. In the factory's workshop, you'll be able to observe the traditional art of printing the fabric with dyes and wax. Afterward, there's an opportunity to shop for a lovely batik piece to take home.
A leisurely drive to the northern tip of the island brings you past the beautiful coves and picturesque bays of Batu Ferringhi while enroute to the delightful butterfly farm. The landscaped gardens with their inviting ponds and waterfalls are home to over 100 species of whimsical butterflies that roam freely within a natural habitat. The farm also has a nature park that houses small reptiles, a museum of Asian artifacts, and souvenir shops where you can purchase a memento during your visit.
Leaving the butterfly farm, you'll embark on a relaxing drive through the surrounding pastoral hills and countryside, capturing views of rural life in Penang. A brief stop at one of the area's fruit stands gives a first-hand look at the vast variety of local fruits and spices grown on the island. Proceeding on along the coastal road, you'll be able to get a good view of the Penang Bridge, reputed to be the fifth largest in the world. A brief stop for photos will be made at the bridge before returning to the pier where your tour concludes.
