Take part in a wonderful opportunity to discover one of the Azores biggest phenomenas, Furnas.
Your full day tour begins with a leisurely drive that crosses the island and then travles along the north coast. Your first stop is at Ribeira Grande City where you will be able to observe Baroque architecture from the XVII and XVIII centuries. Continuing on, you'll have a brief photo stop at the Santa Iria viewpoint, where you can take in some truly breath-taking vistas of the gorgeous coastline.
A second stop is made at a local tea plantation where yo can learn about the interesting history surrounding the growing of tea in the Azores, as well as enjoy a tasting of some of the local varieties that are produced here. From here, it's on to the Pico do Ferro Viewpoint. From this vantage point you can gaze upon the stunning terrain of the Furnas Valley. This spectacular valley is home to tranquil Furnas Lake, with its flower embellished shoreline and deep blue waters, as well as the town of Furnas. Well-recognized as one of the richest hydrologic regions in Europe, many spouting geysers can be found dotting the landscape.
Descending into the valley, you'll make your way to your next stop of Furnas Lake and the hot springs, where yet another incredible photo opportunity awaits. Your morning ends in the village of Furnas where a lovely lunch awaits you at a local restaurant. Following lunch, you'll make your way to the Terra Nostra Botanical Garden. Enjoy a leisurely visit in this paradise of meandering trails that wind past colorful flowers, lush vegetation, sparkling streams and steaming thermal baths before it's time to rejoin your coach and travel back to the pier in Ponta Delgada.
