The Azores have a wealth attractions that focus on its exotic and mystical beauty, but also produce some delicious local cheeses and wines.
Beginning with a scenic drive from the port, you'll travel into the lush green landscape of the surrounding mountains to a viewpoint area that gives you a great view of the place where the island's last volcanic erruptions took place, a place named Mosteiros. From here, you will then travel to the village of Sete Cidades with its twin lakes. This area is considered to be one of the most beautiful natural settings in the Azores. According to local legend, the lakes were created from the tears shed by a princess and her young shepherd lover when they were forced to part, each lake being a reflection of the young couple's individual eye coloring.
Continuing on, you'll have a brief photo stop at Pico do Carvao before returning to Ponta Delgado, where you'll be treated to a tasting of delicious Azorean wines and cheeses. Following this relaxing and tasty respite, your coach will return you to the pier where your tour concludes.
