Spend a carefree half-day enjoying the charms of Guaruja Beach, one of the lovelier resort cities that lie on the outskirts of Santos, just across the estuary.
Depart from the pier and drive through the crowded streets of Santos, the most populous city in Brazil, to the lovely town of Guaruja. Although still bustling, Guaruja feels like an oasis amid the urban sprawl of Santos. Beaches are its primary draw, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants to complement the experience of lounging about the seashore.
Upon arriving at Guaruja Beach, you will have approximately three hours to do as you please. You might lie on the beach and sunbathe while reading a bestseller. Or lazily stroll up and down the stretch of sand engaged in conversation or simply enjoying the outstanding scenery. Of course, swimming is always a wonderful option, and there may even be surfers to watch cutting through the waves, if the conditions are right.
With absolutely no schedule to follow and hours of free time to enjoy, you can make the most of the experience at Guaruja Beach. For a change of pace, you might stop for a snack at one of the restaurants and shop for beachwear and handicrafts. Later, meet your coach at the designated time and location for the transfer back to the pier in Santos.
Please note: Walking on this tour is primarily at the guests’ discretion but there can be sandy and uneven natural surfaces to negotiate. The drive to Guaruja is approximately 1-hour each direction. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to carefully evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Swimwear worn under clothing; sun cap; sunglasses; sunscreen; a towel from the ship; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Beach amenities (loungers, umbrellas) and water activities are not included in the price of the tour.
