Your tour of this charming city begins with a pleasant drive through the quaint Old City and picturesque waterfront area. Along the way, a local guide will provide colorful commentary, including the saga of the famous WWII German warship, Graf Spee, whose sunken remains rest on the floor of the ocean a short distance outside the harbor. Continuing on a scenic route through the city, you'll pass Independence Square and the Gral Artigas Monument before arriving at remarkable Prado Park for a short visit. Noted for its historical monuments and attractive gardens that feature a stunning display of roses, the Park was created from the 175 acre estate built by 19th-century financier, José Buschental, who brought in exotic fish from Asia to fill his streams, as well as animals and plants from around the world. A statue of Buschental can be found on the grounds today.

Leaving Prado Park, you'll travel to the magnificent Legislative Palace, considered to be one of the three most beautiful legislative buildings in the world because of its ornate marble structure. Following an enjoyable stop here, you'll make your way to Battle y Ordóñez Park, home of a vibrantly realistic ox cart monument, obelisk and the Estadio Centenario. The monument was erected to commemorate the fact that Estadio Centenario is the site where the first World Soccer Cup organized by FIFA was held.

Before returning to the ship, your coach will make its way into the residential area of Carrasco where you'll discover an array of splendid private homes and the Hotel Casino Carrasco, an imposing building which overlooks the coast and is full of Uruguayan tradition and history.
