For those who want to enjoy viewing native Bahamian Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions in their all natural habitat without getting wet, this is the perfect tour.
A 15-minute walk from the ship brings you to the high-speed, double-decker catamaran that stands ready to transport you to world-famous Blue Lagoon Island. En route, you'll be treated to the beautiful scenery of Nassau's historic harbor.
As an observer, your program includes the fun interactive orientation that briefly covers the natural history of dolphins, animal training techniques, ocean conservation and Watchable Wildlife Guidelines. Following that, you have the opportunity to observe a friend or family member as they come "face to fins" with dolphins in Blue Lagoon Island's amazing Dolphin Encounter or Dolphin Swim program. Enjoy the up-close and personal view of these gentle marine mammals from a nearby platform - as you remain high and dry. After the tour, enjoy shopping in the gift shop or having some refreshments while taking in some spectacular ocean views. At each of the program areas you can take your own photos or videos from the public dock areas. However, please be advised that an unobstructed view of all dolphin interactions is not guaranteed and observers are not allowed on the platforms at any time.
During your time at Blue Lagoon Island, you can also observe the California Sea Lions in their all-natural habitat. Many of these sea lions were rescued from Gulfport, Mississippi in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. After a visit of approximately 2-hours, you will re-board your catamaran for the transfer back to the pier in Nassau.
Please note: This tour requires a moderate amount of activity and is available to guests who utilize a collapsible wheelchair and have a companion to assist them. Light-weight clothing; flat, comfortable walking shoes; sun caps; sunscreen and sunglasses are suggested. Guests wishing to make any purchases at the facility should bring cash and/or credit cards. Dolphins do splash a lot so participants are advised to be very cautious with their personal camera equipment as Dolphin Encounters Ltd. will not be liable for any damage.
