Experience a taste of island life in the South Pacific during this tour of Apia's local markets, and a visit to Gina's Tropical Gardens.
Depart the pier for the drive to the Samoan flea market, where some time will be made available to browse a variety of handicrafts and local curios for sale at set bargain prices.
Next, you will continue on to Gina's Tropical Gardens, which features an abundance of native and tropical plants, flowers and fruits. Included are specimens found in the bird of paradise family, along with ginger, axoria, heliconia, ylang ylang, papaya, guava, star fruit, pineapple, and mango. During your visit, you will be served tropical fruit, bottled water, and coconut or fresh lemonade, and take in demonstrations of coconut tree climbing, husking, grating and preparing fresh coconut cream.
Afterward, a stop will be made at the Pacific Jewel, Samoa's newest contemporary gift shop. Here, you will find an upscale selection of fine arts, hand-painted crafts, shells, coconut gift items, paintings, and other original offerings from talented local artists. Your tour will conclude with a stop at the fresh produce market, where farmers sell fresh fruits, vegetables, taro, bananas, kava, and traditional handicrafts. Following your visit, you will rejoin your coach for the return drive to the pier.
