Embrace the exquisite beauty of the South Pacific during this scenic sightseeing drive along the southwest coast of Upolu, and a relaxing visit with lunch at the Sinalei Reef Resort in Fiafia.
Depart the pier for the scenic drive past Vailima, the former home of famous Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, the Bahai Temple and various plantations via the Afiamalu Pass. A brief photo stop will then be made at the Papapapaiuta Falls, which cascade down into an old volcanic crater.
Next, your tour continues on through the villages and environs along the southwest coast of Upolu. Upon arrival at the idyllic Sinalei Reef Resort, you can swim at the beach, sunbathe or just relax and soak up the warm sun. This beautifully landscaped property offers splendid views of the ocean and verdant surroundings from every angle. You will be served a buffet lunch consisting of a selection of foods cooked in a ground oven, or umu, along with assorted European and Asian dishes. A traditional singing and dancing performance highlighted by talented youngsters performing the pulsating fire dance will accompany your meal.
Following your visit, you will rejoin your coach for the return drive to the pier. En route, you will proceed along a new inland road that passes through lush villages, rainforests and plantations. This road connects to the airport road, which author James Michener described as the "the most beautiful drive in the South Pacific." A brief stop will also be made at the Moamoa Theological College to view the endangered sea turtles on display before returning to the pier.
