Romantic Escape - Bora Bora Pearl Resort

Romantic Escape - Bora Bora Pearl Resort

Known as the most romantic island in the world, Bora Bora is surrounded by an inspiring lagoon, resembling an artist’s palette of blues and greens. For most visitors to Bora Bora, it’s love at first sight.

Lush, tropical mountain slopes and valleys blossom with hibiscus, and palm-covered islets circle the illuminated lagoon like a delicate necklace. Perfect white-sand beaches give way to emerald waters, where colorful fish animate the coral gardens. The ambiance couldn’t be more romantic, especially within luxury resorts such as the Bora Bora Pearl.

Overland Program Step by Step:

Please note: The order of sites visited may vary to avoid congestion. Any times indicated are only approximate, and are given here for general reference purposes and are subject to change. The Destination Services Team on board will advise you on the ship of your departure and return times.

DAY ONE

After disembarking the ship, you will tender ashore and transfer to the Bora Bora Pearl Resort. The resort is located on the “motu” (meaning islet) Te Vairoa, a setting that exudes romance. Following check in, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy as you please.

Relax on the terrace of your overwater bungalow, admiring the views of the surrounding lagoon and mountain peaks. Indulge in the services at the spa. Stroll the idyllic beach, pausing every so often in the shade of a swaying palm. Take an invigorating dip in the freshwater swimming pool. Or if you are feeling ambitious, enjoy water sports such as an outrigger canoe ride or snorkeling in the sea’s crystal-clear waters. This is your time in paradise with no schedule to follow other than your own.

In the evening, as the resort becomes illuminated with soft lighting, the atmosphere becomes even more romantic and memorable. The ambiance is ideal for your romantic dinner, a special affair that’s pure Polynesian. Afterwards, feel free to stroll about the resort before retiring in your thatched-roof bungalow that’s perched over the water.

DAY TWO

In the morning, a traditional Polynesian outrigger canoe will glide up to your private terrace, and you’ll be served a sumptuous breakfast. What an unforgettable way to start another day in paradise. After spending the remainder of the morning at leisure, you will transfer to the ship in Bora Bora.

Expected Weather:

The climate on the Island of Bora Bora and the rest of the Society Islands is considered tropical and can be divided into two basic seasons: the wet season and the dry season.

The wet season (November through April) is the Polynesian Summer and accounts for approximately three-quarters of the annual rainfall of French Polynesia. The humidity during this time can be quite heavy and muggy and cloud cover is common. Storms are frequent, brief and unpredictable. Temperatures generally range from 27 - 30 degrees C (80-86 degrees Fahrenheit), with the hottest months being February and March.

By contrast, the dry season (May through October) is the Polynesian winter. Temperatures generally range from 24-28 degrees C (75-82 degrees Fahrenheit) and rain is rare.

Temperature fluctuations from day to night are minimal.

POST LUXURY RETREAT AUSTRALIAN BUSH

POST LUXURY RETREAT AUSTRALIAN BUSH

Recognized as the "Best Hotel in Australia" by Trip Advisor in January, 2013, Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa is a luxury conservation-based resort located in Australia's Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage area. The resort is set within its own private conservation and wildlife reserve where guests can enjoy absolute luxury, tranquility and connection with nature.

Nestled between two National Parks and spread out at the foot of towering sandstone cliffs, the homestead style resort occupies just two percent of the total land area of 4,000 acres. Up to 90 guests are catered for in 40 free-standing suites each with private swimming pool, a main homestead with luxury facilities and standalone Timeless Spa.

Guests are able to appreciate the very special natural, cultural and scenic values of the Wolgan Valley through a diverse range of nature based activities. You will be transferred one way by luxury 4 x 4 vehicle and one way by helicopter.

The below description is a sample itinerary. You may choose your activities when you are checked-in at the resort.

Day 1

Following your disembarkation in Sydney, you will transfer to the airport and depart in style, aboard a helicopter, that will zip you in about an hour to the Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa. The resort lies in a gorgeous valley at the foot of two towering sandstone cliffs so you can expect fantastic views along the way.

After settling in, you are free to enjoy the resort's spectacular facilities, which include restaurants, a spa and fitness center, shop and unique spaces such as the restored Heritage Homestead, which was built in 1832.

Late in the afternoon, you will depart on a wildlife tour through the surrounding reserve, which is still inhabited by many of the same intriguing species that so fascinated Charles Darwin when he visited the Wolgan Valley. You may spot kangaroos, wallabies and countless indigenous birds such as peregrine falcons, while your field guide describes the environment and regales you with stories of the bush.

Afterwards, you will enjoy a leisurely 5-course dinner in the Wolgan Dining Room, whose stone fireplace, wooden flooring and leather furnishings lend the handsome setting an air of elegance.

Later, you will retire for the first of three evenings at the resort.

Day 2

Following a hearty breakfast, the morning will be spent on a guided mountain bike tour or a trail ride on horseback. The bike trail is over mostly level terrain with only occasion hills. In all likelihood, you will pass a freshwater dam, where a variety of wildlife usually congregates. You will have plenty of chances along the way to stop for water and observe the stunning scenery. Similarly, the trail ride on horseback is a wonderful way to become familiar with the spectacular landscape. Still, each ride is unique, so there is no telling what you may experience or see with regard to wildlife.

Then, after lunch in the informal Country Kitchen, you will enjoy a Colonial Heritage Tour that departs from the original 1832 homestead. This tour explains the homestead's restoration and how the early settlers of the Wolgan Valley dealt with their harsh lifestyle. You will also learn about the adjacent kitchen garden and how it has been re-established to supply many of the resort's fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts and herbs.

As an alternative to the Colonial Heritage Tour, you may join the Aboriginal Interpretative Tour and become immersed in centuries of Aboriginal culture. A field guide will describe how the seasons governed hunting, the medicinal use of plants, and the tools and weapons that the Aborigines used for survival and ceremony.

The day ends with dinner in the Wolgan Dining Room, or if you prefer, it will be served in the privacy of your suite.

Day 3

Start the day with a casual breakfast before setting out on a bush walk. Hiking in the reserve brings the rich diversity of Australia's plant life front and center, and you may also observe wildlife along the way. If the experience piques your curiosity for more hiking, you can arrange for a bush walk in a different area of the reserve during free time.

Later, you will have lunch at the Country Kitchen or perhaps enjoy a gourmet picnic at a favorite spot in the reserve. Most of the afternoon will be devoted to free time, during which you may indulge in the resort's facilities, or whatever else you choose to do.

Following dinner, you will be invited to venture into the bush for nocturnal wildlife spotting and stargazing. A field guide will be on hand to point out the animals, which may include possums, wombats, wallaroos and owls. If the night sky is clear, you will see constellations such as the famed Southern Cross, which once served as a navigational beacon for sailors and played an important role in the spiritual beliefs of the Aboriginal people.

Day 4

The morning is yours to do as you please, either at the resort or out in the bush on a self-guide hike or mountain bike excursion.

Following check-out you will transfer in a luxury 4x4 vehicle to Sydney and be dropped off either at the airport or your post package hotel (optional extra nights at Sydney hotels can be purchased for guests wishing to further their stay).

Land Program Step by Step:
