Explore the evolution of Fiji's fascinating cultural history and art during this half-day tour that includes a spectacular performance by the Fijian Firewalkers.
Depart the pier for the 1-hour drive to Pacific Harbor, which features panoramic vistas of Fijian villages, tropical rain-forested mountains and flat pastureland. En route, a brief photo stop will be made at the world-renowned Arts Village of Fiji. Upon arrival at Pacific Harbor, you will be greeted by the reverberating sound of a hollow drum beaten by a Fijian warrior, the blowing of a conch shell and the welcoming song of the villagers. After being served a complimentary drink, you will be escorted to the amphitheater to witness a spectacular performance by Fijian Firewalkers and the enthralling group from the Arts Village of Fiji.
From your shaded seat, you will see Fiji's storied past come alive before your very eyes. You will marvel at the Fijian Firewalkers demonstrating their mysterious power over flame. As elders chant, young men will remove the burning logs from a smoking pit to reveal the white-hot stones signaling the beginning of this ancient ceremony. The group from the Arts Village of Fiji will then entertain you with traditional dancing, and by re-enacting their legends and history amidst this idyllic setting.
After the show, you may opt to stroll around the cool fern trees and shady palms in the exotic tropical gardens, be serenaded by the village singers, or join your guide for a walking tour around the Arts Village complex. Along the way, you will have an opportunity to mingle with the villagers and watch handicraft demonstrations.
At the conclusion of your visit, some time will be made available for you to browse the souvenir shops before re-boarding the bus for the 1-hour return drive to the pier.
