Enjoy an up-close view of Dublin on this walking tour that covers many of the city's highlights.
Boarding your coach at the pier, you will transfer to Dublin's city center and the Georgian Square of Merrion where your walking tour commences. To begin, you will take a stroll through the Gardens of Merrion Square and then on past the National Gallery of Ireland. The gallery contains many fine works by such painters as Michelangelo, Rubens, El Greco, Goya, Gainsborough and Caravaggio.
From here, you will continue on past Government Buildings and Ely Place before arriving at St. Stephen's Green. A short walk along The Green will take you to Dawson Street, where you will pass The Mansion House, residence of Dublin's Lord Mayor. Cross from Dawson Street to South Anne's Street where you will stop for a cool beverage in one of Dublin's famous pubs.
Refreshed, you will continue on your route, walking along Grafton Street, one of Dublin's fashionable shopping streets. Located at the bottom of Grafton Street is Trinity College. Stroll through the oldest university in Ireland, founded by Queen Elizabeth I in 1592. Over 400 years old, the college is located in a prime 40-acre city center site. Academic seclusion can be compared favorably to the bustling streets outside this serene setting. Located in the College Library is the world famous Book of Kells, a hand illuminated manuscript of the Gospels.
Following your visit to grounds of Trinity College, enjoy free time in the city before rejoining your guide for the transfer back to the pier.
