The Rock of Gibraltar rises nearly 1400 feet above sea level and is thought by many to be one of the legendary pillars of Hercules. Overlooking the entrance to the Mediterranean, this charming destination with its pillar boxes and pubs, retains its staunchly British character.

You will begin with a drive towards the runway of the airfield to reach the British/Spanish frontier and from here, it's on to the southernmost point of Gibraltar, Europa Point. Along the way you will pass scenic Catalan Bay which was once a quaint fishing village where Genoese traders settled to escape the Napoleonic Wars. You will also see the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Great Britain. Your first stop will be the unique vantage point of Europa Point where you will have the chance to view the busiest shipping lane in the world and where the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean mingle between two continents. On clear days, you can even see the African Continent in the distance.

Continuing on, you will make your way to the upper Rock area which has been designated a Nature Reserve, and St. Michael's Cave, with it's strangely shaped stalagmites and stalactites that have attracted visitors since Roman times. From here it's on to the home of Gibraltar's most respected residents, the Barbary Apes, where you will have an opportunity to photograph these playful macaques. Visitors are cautioned that these wild apes are not to be touched no matter how friendly they may seem.

Your return to the pier takes you past the Moorish Castle and the tower of Homage that still bears the scars of long-ago fought battles. Entering the town, a stop is made at the Main Street where guests may disembark the coach and remain in town, or continue on to the pier. Those guests who elect to stay in town are responsible for making their own way back to the ship.

Please note: This tour is available to wheelchair guests and is walking is mainly at the guests' discretion. While there are steps to negotiate within St. Michael's Cave (approx.75 steps), the cave can be viewed from the exit. Casual clothes, comfortable flat walking shoes, a hat and sunglasses are suggested. Guests who elect to stay in town will be responsible for making their own way back to the pier.
